About Me

Hello, I'm Darran Flowers, an accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor based in Nottingham, with over 11 years experience supporting both adults and teenagers in the voluntary and public sector.  I have been fortunate to have gained extensive training in a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities over a 15 year period, allowing me to provide bespoke support to my clients that is right for them.   My counselling support is based on the teachings of Carl Rogers, one of the founding fathers of psychotherapy - based on compassion and non-judgemental understanding, to help people grow and develop in the direction they wish to .  I also integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) into my practice to help clients develop  skills and strategies to manage their daily challenges.  I am extremely passionate about how we relate to people around us, and I feel that our past and present relationships are often a significant factor in our mental health and wellbeing.  This passion guided me to complete my postgraduate  IAPT (NHS) training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT),  providing  a 12-20 session evidence based  therapy that is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment for depression.  Patient well-being is my number one priority and I ensure that they are at the heart of the decision making around their care and what type of support would be most suited to them.  Get in touch with me for more information about how I could help you.

About Therapy

It takes courage to admit to yourself that 'actually, things aren't alright', and it's even more courageous to explore positive solutions.  Therapy allows an individual to explore themselves freely and be able to talk things through, with confidence that you will be heard and respected.  It is about helping someone to  begin to make better sense of their thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours, and to help them to make the right choices for their future.

I provide personalised talking therapy for both adults and teenagers helping with low mood / depression and anxiety.  I can offer a safe space that can support you with the challenges you are currently facing, at a pace that is right for you.  I specialise in relationship challenges, bereavement, and significant life events / changes that may be impacting  on your wellbeing.  It may be that you would like to learn a few new skills to manage how you are feeling, or you may feel you would like longer term support - this is something we can discuss together to make sure the support is right for you.

You may be feeling stuck, lost, unfulfilled, worried or unhappy & you may not know why.  Whatever your issues or worries may be, past or present, we can work together to begin to take positive steps towards how you want your life to be different.  Our relationship will be one built on trust and my non-judgemental genuine regard for your well-being.
